Due to show's sucess during his first season, Disney decided to make a second season and make a change from its Friday night original time slot. Disney Channel placed Alex and Alexa in the leadoff position for their new Friday offerings, with new episodes of Jenny and a new Danny Antonucci-produced series Schoolboys, offering competition on the Friday nights and weekend with other networks. Alex and Alexa settled into the 8:30 PM position, which put it in direct competition with the Primetime schedule of other kids channel like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Many of the producers, including Danny Antonucci, were nervous about the competition with the two kids channel and want the serie to stay on the 7:00 PM slot. All through the summer of 2011, several news outlets and websites published stories about the competition.
